Key Responsibilities Quality Planning & System Implementation Develop, implement, and enforce plant-wide quality control policies, SOPs, and inspection standards Establish and maintain compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949 , and other applicable certifications Design and monitor adherence to incoming, in-process, and outgoing quality checks Team Supervision & Training Lead and supervise the quality assurance team , inspectors, and analysts Define roles, responsibilities, and KPIs for QA team members Train plant staff on QA protocols, document control, inspection practices , and root cause analysis Inspection, Auditing & Compliance Conduct regular internal audits, inspections, and process assessments Lead preparation and coordination of external audits by clients or certifying bodies Maintain documented records and traceability for all production and inspection activities Ensure regulatory and environmental compliance Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions Lead or support RCA (Root Cause Analysis) efforts for product failures, defects, or deviations Use tools like 8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, CAPA, Pareto analysis to close gaps Implement preventive and corrective action plans for recurring quality issues Data Analysis & Reporting Analyze quality trends, rejections, rework, scrap, and customer complaints Generate periodic reports on quality metrics, yield, inspection effectiveness, and team performance Present reports to senior management with actionable improvement plans Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with production, maintenance, PPC, dispatch, and engineering teams Review customer requirements and product specs to align quality control checkpoints Assist in resolving supplier quality issues and product traceability Budgeting & Continuous Improvement Manage the plant QA budget for consumables, tools, training, and audits Identify and lead continuous improvement projects using Lean, Kaizen, or Six Sigma methodologies Qualifications & Requirements Diploma or B.E. in Mechanical / Production / Metallurgy Minimum 10 years of QA experience in manufacturing (preferably steel/metals/engineering) Prior experience leading QA in a plant or processing unit is essential Strong knowledge of quality systems, inspection methods, and ISO standards Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), MSA, FMEA, CAPA Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and familiarity with ERP/QMS software Preferred Certifications (Not Mandatory but a Plus) Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 Internal Auditor Key Skills Quality Management Systems Root Cause Analysis & CAPA ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 Compliance SPC & Process Auditing Data-Driven Quality Reporting Problem Solving & Decision Making Team Leadership & Training Microsoft Excel & Documentation Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma Cross-Functional Coordination What Success Looks Like Audit scores consistently improved year-on-year Plant rejection, rework, and scrap rates reduced with measurable impact Strong quality culture embedded within operations Team performs proactively and independently Customer complaints drop while internal compliance rises
